India has a vast and unique history. Its ancient education system exemplified this uniqueness in many ways. This ancient system prevailed from Vedic times and its schools were known as Gurukuls. This had only one teacher teaching 10 children.
With the passing of time, this system got modified by the addition of foreign methods of education, motivated by different religions and cultures which propagated in India, through the rule of foreign kingdoms or dynasties.
